Fall Session 2020

We are sorry to announce that we won’t be offering any classes at public pools this fall. The City of Winnipeg is currently working towards restoring their own programing. That combined with reduced facility capacities and physical distancing requirements, it’s understandable that they’re unable to accommodate us at this time.
For those interested in swimming this fall, we highly recommend the Manitoba Marlins Swim Club. Many of our instructors joined a swim club when they were younger and it was a really great experience.
This fall, we will be offering tutoring this fall as well as our virtual and online courses.

Our Return to the Pool
After months of waiting, we are happy to announce our return to providing swimming lessons again! However to do so, we need to adapt and be flexible, as we create a new normal for our return to the pool. Safety has and always will be our number one priority and our return to swimming must be done in a safe manner. Check out our summer swimming lessons page for more information.

In Person Classes (Swimming, Select Lifesaving and First Aid Courses, and Leadership Courses)
We’ve received many inquires about summer lessons. We are still not sure about offering summer swimming lessons. It is possible to teach lessons while social distancing. However, it’s negated the moment someone needs help in the water. We want to make sure that our swimmers are safe as well as our instructors. Once we receive updates from local and national public health authorities regarding COVID-19 in Canada, as well as the Red Cross and the Lifesaving Society, we will be able to make a more informed decision.
At the moment in-person courses will be postponed until we are confident that it is safe to start again. We want to reassure you that your spot will be saved for when lessons can begin again, and you will be given priority registration for a spot when the next session starts. We will notify everyone by email and social media with updates and when lessons can start back up again.

Be Safe! Swim Safe! Be Water Smart!
With the help of the Lifesaving Society, we’ve put together this virtual course with hopes that it will help you and your loved ones be safe, in and around the water. This course provides an introduction to the world of lifesaving, with a sharp focus on how to be safe in and around the water. Includes topics such as what to do if someone needs help in the water, the importance of self safety, and how to call 911 (and so much more!).

Lessons and Courses Postponed
As you may already be aware, the situation with COVID-19 has been constantly changing over time.
At the moment in person courses will be postponed until we are confident that it is safe to start again. We want to reassure you that your spot will be saved for when lessons can begin again, and you will be given priority registration for a spot when the next session starts. We continue to follow the updates provided by global and local public health authorities regarding COVID-19 in Canada, including recommendations for businesses, public recreational faculties, and school systems. We will notify everyone by email and social media with updates and when lessons can start back up again.

Benchmark Swim Academy is excited to announce its new partnership with the Manitoba Marlins!
The Manitoba Marlins Swim Club and the Benchmark Swim Academy partnership aims to ensure a more seamless pathway for swimmers to progress from a learn to swim program to a competitive swim program. The partnership also provides support to swimmers who require further instruction before entering a competitive swim program and to graduating swimmers who wish to pursue lifesaving certifications.

Our mission is to implement a high performance competitive swim program that provides athletes with an environment to systematically progress from the novice to elite levels of competition. Through this progression we empower young people to be CHAMPIONS in life through EXCELLENCE in swimming.
